A Nest

A few weeks ago, when the typhoon tore through the Philippines for a couple of days, we found a wonderful surprise that Sunday morning. A perfectly-made bird’s nest was on the road just below our mango tree. I suppose the strong wind just blew it from the branches. It was empty which was quite a relief for us. I showed the boys the nest and we studied it carefully. There were some fluff stuck to the twigs and we suspect it was the baby bird’s. We hoped that the baby bird that was in the nest survived the storm. The nest was almost perfectly rounded and circular. It was made of grass, leaves, some small twigs and even some bits of plastic. It was really dainty. We got a couple of the boys’ plastic eggs and put it in the nest. It looked so real!
