Nikki Bakes

The other day, I let Nikki try baking.  I bought this really easy, one-step way to bake cookies (I got the Pillsbury One-Step Triple Chocolate Cookies) and I thought it would be nice to let Nikki do it.  So, after telling him that we were going to bake, he was excited to start.  I let him wear an apron.  Then we read the instructions on the back of the box.  It was pretty easy. All he needed to do was add 2 tablespoons of water to the chocolate powder mix.  He had a bit of difficulty with the mixing so I helped for a while.  Then he spread the batter on cookie sheets.  I told him to not mind if they weren’t perfect circles.  Then I put them in the oven toaster and he patiently waited for the cookies to be done.  He used a thin barbeque stick to poke the cookies to check if they were done (dry in the middle).  After baking the first batch, he gave his lola (grandma) 2 pieces and he was happy that she liked them. I’m thinking of getting more of these easy-to-bake batter just so Nikki will be exposed to baking and cooking.

Here are some photos of the activity:
